Johnson (knee) will not have a recovery timetable until after he undergoes surgery later this week, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Johnson has already been diagnosed with a torn meniscus, but the full extent of the damage won't be known until doctors get a clear look inside his knee. Even a best-case scenario would likely lead to missed time at the beginning of the season, while a worst-case scenario might rule him out for the year. Dontrelle Inman and Tyrell Williams are the favorites to earn the No. 3 wideout role in Johnson's absence, though the Chargers have also been working out some veteran free agents.
