Hester (toe) was activated from short-term injured reserve Friday afternoon, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
With Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) placed on season-ending injured reserve for the corresponding transaction, the Falcons will likely turn to Hester and/or Justin Hardy to fill the No. 3 wide receiver role. Perhaps more important, Hester figures to step in for Eric Weems as the top returner on punts and kickoffs. Outside of return-yardage leagues, Hester can be left on the wire.
