Hester will require 3-to-6 months to recover from surgery on his right big toe, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Hester was sidelined from the Falcons' third preseason game through Week 12 due to a broken sesamoid bone. Strictly used in the return game but for one offensive snap down the stretch, he compiled eight punt returns for 34 yards and nine kick returns for 235 yards, marking the 10th consecutive season in which he posted more than 20 yards per return in the latter realm. The 33-year-old will now don a cast for the first three months and a walking boot thereafter, with no rehab scheduled until he's spent about a month in the boot.
