The Maple Leafs have recalled Sparks from the Marlies, their minor-league affiliate.
Top Leafs goalie James Reimer reportedly is dealing with an injury, and since an evening contest is scheduled Saturday against the Capitals, the team has brought on Sparks -- a seventh-round draft selection from 2011 -- to serve as the backup to Jonathan Bernier.
