Kip Wells joins the comeback parade, signs with White Sox

Kip Wells hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009, but he's now signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox.

Jamie Moyer, Andy Pettitte and ... Kip Wells?

Yes, it would seem that comebacks are in vogue this season, and Wells is the latest case. He has signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman has learned.

Of course, Wells doesn't exactly have the track record of Moyer or Pettitte.

Wells, 34, last pitched in in the majors in 2009 for the Nationals and Reds, putting together a 5.33 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 72 2/3 innings between the two stints that season. In his career, Wells is 67-99 with a 4.71 ERA and 1.51 WHIP. In his 11 seasons, he played for eight different teams.

Wells pitched in 2010, for the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League (Independent ball). In March of 2011, he signed a minor-league deal with the Diamondbacks, but nothing came to fruition.
