Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is well known for his spotty shaving habits. While he's certainly a rare NFL intellectual, Luck is also routinely spotted rocking a very thick and very tangled neckbeard.

One could even postulate he resembles a Civil War general. Turns out there's another layer to his look: he doesn't shower a whole lot. Appearing on ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike", ex-Colts quarterback turned ESPN analyst Matt Hasselbeck called Luck "grungy" and said he actually enjoys not showering.

"He's grungy ... He's kind of like a college kid still. Does that make sense? He takes pride in not showering, kind of thing." Hasselbeck said.

Luck isn't some weirdo dirtbag creeping around the Colts facility, obviously. He's just a smart, young 26-year-old quarterback who prefers piling around to being dressed up and fancy. To wit: Hasselbeck's description of the quarterback room in Indy portrays more of an intellectual than anything else.

"There's definitely goofiness. The conversations in that quarterback room are definitely different than the conversations in the quarterback rooms around the league I'm sure," Hasselbeck said. ""I remember we were getting ready to play the New Orleans Saints or somebody. And he wanted to talk about the political landscape in Europe for the first five minutes. Something big was going on in Scotland."

As one might imagine -- and as he was asked -- this is not the same discussion that often took place while Hasselbeck was sitting in a room with Brett Favre in Green Bay.

"No those conversations [with Brett Favre in Green Bay] were also very different," Hasselbeck said. "But they weren't about Europe. I don't know if Brett could spell Europe at the time."

That might be a top-10 all-time Brett Favre quote, although it's worth noting Hasselbeck said Favre also was also very good at crossword puzzles.

Back to Luck, though, it turns out he's actually a pretty good babysitter for the Hasselbeck family because he's closer to their kids' age than he is to the parents.

"Andrew Luck is closer in age to my kids than me," Hasselbeck said. "So if he'd come over for dinner, naturally the conversation would be Andrew and my kids talking and me and my wife having a conversation with ourselves, which is also kind of nice."

And, along with the other Stanford grads on the Colts (and now around the league), an excellent tutor -- Hasselbeck said he would email out his kids' homework to the players. Right up until they got caught because of a newspaper quote.

"We had like three or four Stanford guys [on the Colts]. And I had a little distribution list I'd send out a little math homework," Hasselbeck said. "I tell you what, fifth grade math gets kind of tough and now these guys are spread out on other teams so the distribution list is not changing. So as we get older, the homework gets harder -- I'm not afraid to say it.

"My kids get upset, like, in the newspaper one time and the teacher said 'tell your parents you can't get Andrew Luck to help with your homework.'"

Shoutout to Hasselbeck -- not only does he call his teammates out for not bathing, but he also got his kids busted for having a really rich Stanford graduate do their homework.
