Despite a troubling loss to the Colts on Monday night, Jets owner Woody Johnson is not planning on making changes to his regime, barring a collapse down the stretch, according to league sources. Should the team avoid the kind of dismal performance it put up against Indianapolis on Monday night, league sources indicated Johnson intends to commit to coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan for a third season in 2017.

While this has been a difficult season for the Jets after a surprising 10-win season in 2015, Johnson would prefer to go the route of continuity even with some recent fan sentiment turning against Bowles, in particular. The brutal play of veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick torpedoed the first half of the season, and Johnson is intrigued to see if youngster Bryce Petty can show some spark in these final four games now that he has been named starter.

The Jets have been prone to turmoil and tumult under Johnson's reign, particularly during the end of the Rex Ryan/Mike Tannenbaum relationship and the doomed Ryan/John Idzik coupling. This latest regime has done well to clean up the building, eradicate the leaks and competing factions that divided the franchise in the past and present a unified front to improve. That is not lost on the owner.

Of course, losing 41-7 at home on Monday Night Football isn't easily sloughed off, but despite that outing sources said Johnson would prefer to move forward with this group.
