Some things never change. The Browns, who are in the middle of a successful looking rebuild, still managed to make one of those moves that left the world collectively shaking its head.

On Friday, the Browns cut defensive back Tyvis Powell. That's an uncontroversial move from a pure football perspective considering he's played in eight games in his career (all with the Seahawks) and has yet to snag an interception. However, from a personal perspective, the move seems just a tad cruel.

Guess who was supposed to throw out the first pitch at the Indians game Friday night? Browns defensive back Tyvis Powell.

A little more than three hours later, the Browns announced their decision to cut him.

Put together, it looks like this:

In the Browns' defense, they did not know about Powell's plan to throw out the first pitch. At least that's what the team told Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. According to Cabot, Powell will still throw out the first pitch, despite his changed employment status.

So this story still has a somewhat happy ending.

This is the second awkward roster move the Browns have made this offseason. After the Browns drafted tight end David Njoku in the first round, their veteran tight end, Gary Barnidge, welcomed Njoku to the tight end room on Twitter. Fifteen hours later, the Browns cut Barnidge.
