The Lions hold the fifth overall pick in the draft and conventional wisdom would say that's too high to take an interior offensive lineman. However, sources said the Lions are strongly considering Alabama All-American guard Chance Warmack in that spot.

Warmack was very impressive in his recent visit with the team and some evaluators believe he may be the best player in this draft, with a class that lacks high-end talent at many key positions. Detroit has some other needs as well, but Warmack is in play for their pick. With possibly two left tackles already gone before the Lions pick, and with concerns surrounding some of the pass rushers expected to go in the top of the draft, Warmack may end up being the safest pick for Detroit.
Also, with the price of top five picks so much cheaper in this new CBA, it's no longer cost-prohibitive to take a guard that high.
