Greg McElroy retires from NFL
Greg McElroy announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday.
Drafted in the seventh round out of Alabama by the Jets during the 2011 NFL Draft, McElroy was AJ McCarron before AJ McCarron was. He finished his college career with a 24-3 record but his success with the Tide didn't carry over to the pros.
In two seasons with the Jets and then one year with the Bengals, McElroy had fewer NFL completions than he had college victories. He went 19 for 31 while starting one game in 2012 with the Jets.
He thanked both teams as he walked off football's biggest stage.
