The quarterback gamble made by Doug Pederson is already starting to pay off.

Eight days ago, the Eagles coach decided to trade starter Sam Bradford to the Vikings and move forward with rookie Carson Wentz at quarterback.

The No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft made that decision look brilliant on Sunday during the first offensive series of his career. On a nine-play scoring drive against the Browns, Wentz went 4 of 5 for 57 yards and a touchdown.

The rookie quarterback capped the scoring drive with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews.

Sure, the touchdown pass came against the Browns, but trust me, it still counts.

The drive wasn't all Wentz though, he also got some help from a few teammates, like Zach Ertz. Check out the one-handed catch below that Ertz made earlier in the drive.

Wentz is off to a pretty hot start for a guy who didn't take any first team reps during in any of Philly's preseason practices or games.
