Michael Vick would be 'happy' if DeSean Jackson came to Jets
Michael Vick said he would be 'happy' if DeSean Jackson joined him in New York with the Jets.
So where does he end up? CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports that the Seahawks and 49ers are interested in a trade (although such a trade is difficult to pull off) and the Patriots have also been rumored. How about the playmaker-needy Jets?
Michael Vick, the team's newest acquisition, played with Jackson in Philly and said on Friday he'd be "happy" if Jackson ended up on the Jets.
"If there's an opportunity to get DeSean, I'm pretty sure the New York Jets fans would be in favor of that," Vick said Friday. "But who knows, it takes a lot to make a trade happen [with] all of the intricacies of a contract. It's not for us as players to decide. But hopefully everything will work out for DeSean.
If he ends up in New York, we'll be happy, just as happy as he will be."
The Jets need playmakers for sure. They acquired Eric Decker this offseason to fill the top spot on the wide receiver depth chart and most people have pegged them as taking a receiver with their first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Grabbing Jackson wouldn't necessarily fix all their problems -- and it doesn't seem like the sort of thing John Idzik would be interested in based on his approach to free agency this offseason -- but according to Brian Costello of the New York Post, the Jets have "interest" in Jackson but not at his current price.
Acquiring the wideout would instantly give them a downfield playmaker and a more versatile offense. And regardless of who was starting, both Vick and Geno Smith would indeed be pretty happy with Jackson joining the team.
