Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that there's "a lot of mutual interest between" the New York Jets and Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Quinn, a former Jets assistant, has emerged as the favorite for the opening, according to an earlier report.

Rapoport also indicated that if Quinn is hired by the Jets, he would bring ex-Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to New York with him. Another offensive coordinator option for Quinn would be Seattle offensive line coach Tom Cable.

The Browns officially announced Shanahan's resignation on Saturday, per the Associated Press. He along with Cable have also interviewed for coaching positions elsewhere.

Quinn has been in Seattle for the past two seasons. His defense ranked third in rushing yards allowed per game at 81.5 yards and first in passing yards allowed at 185.6 per game.

The Jets aren't allowed to make Quinn an offer until Seattle's season is over. They play the Panthers on Saturday.
