Cardinals' Ryan Loutos: Summoned from Triple-A

The Cardinals recalled Loutos from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

He'll begin his second stint of the season with the big club after he received his first call-up May 20 and made two scoreless appearances out of the bullpen before being sent back to Memphis on June 4. Loutos is likely to handle a low-leverage relief role while he's up with the Cardinals.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Another multi-hit performance

Witt went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's win over the Dodgers.

Witt went hitless in his first three at-bats before driving home Garret Hampson with a single in the seventh. The star shortstop would then go on to swipe his 20th bag of the season while also recording another single in the ninth, giving him his fourth multi-hit performance in his last five contests. Witt is now batting .375 in June with two homers, nine RBI, four stolen bases and eight runs scored. He also leads the majors with 59 runs scored.

  • Jorge Mateo 2B | BAL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: On bench again Sunday

Mateo is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mateo will remain on the bench in favor of Ramon Urias -- with Jordan Westburg at second base -- after Urias went 2-for-4 in Saturday's win. While it's a second straight absence for Mateo after four consecutive starts fresh off the 7-day concussion list, there has been no hint of an injury setback.

  • Kyle Gibson SP | STL

Cardinals' Kyle Gibson: Goes on bereavement leave

The Cardinals placed Gibson on the bereavement list Sunday.

Gibson has left the team following a death in the family. Per MLB rules, players placed on the bereavement list have to be deactivated for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven days, making it unclear if Gibson will be ready to rejoin the team ahead of his next scheduled start. The Cardinals had confirmed Gibson as their starting pitcher for Wednesday's game in Miami, though that announcement was made prior to his placement on the bereavement list.

  • MJ Melendez LF | KC

Royals' MJ Melendez: Mashes grand slam

Melendez went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's win over the Dodgers.

Melendez put the Royals on top with a two-out grand slam in the top of the sixth, drawing 12 pitches in the at-bat before jumping on a hanging cutter from Blake Treinen. The 25-year-old also recorded an infield single earlier in the contest, giving him his first multi-hit effort since May 10 against the Angels. Melendez is batting just .152 in June with and Saturday actually marked the first time this month in which he's strung together hits in back-to-back contests. On a positive note, he now has three homers in his last eight games to go along with 10 RBI and four runs scored.

  • Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: On bench against righty

Crow-Armstrong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

The lefty-hitting Crow-Armstrong be on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Miles Mikolas) for the second time in the series. After he was called up from Triple-A Iowa on May 30, Crow-Armstrong had settled into a near-everyday role in center field while the Cubs eased Cody Bellinger back from the injured list by deploying him more frequently at designated hitter, first base and right field. Now that Bellinger is further removed from a fractured rib cage and with first baseman Michael Busch also seemingly regaining the confidence of manager Craig Counsell, Crow-Armstrong could find himself as the odd man out of the Chicago lineup.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Royals' Seth Lugo: Picks up 10th win

Lugo (10-2) picked up the win over the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings while striking out four.

Lugo did a great job of working his way out of trouble for most of the contest, with the exception of the fourth inning when he allowed back-to-back hits to open the frame and also hit Jason Heyward with a pitch before eventually surrendering two runs. The right-hander would allow just two more hits over his final two innings of work, notching his 11th quality start of the season and his first this month. Lugo is now tied with Ranger Suarez for the major league lead in wins with 10 and has gone at least six innings in five consecutive outings.

  • Huascar Ynoa SP | ATL

Braves' Huascar Ynoa: Called up, shifts to 60-day IL

Atlanta recalled Ynoa from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a right elbow stress reaction, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Ynoa was optioned to Gwinnett coming out of spring training and made two starts in the minors before landing on the club's 7-day IL on April 23 with what was termed as right elbow inflammation. The 26-year-old's injury is now being classified differently, and since he's already been out of action at Triple-A for nearly two months, his move to Atlanta's 60-day IL won't affect his timeline for a return to the mound. Instead, the transaction temporarily removes Ynoa from Atlanta's 40-man roster and opens up a spot for right-hander Grant Holmes, whose contract was selected from Gwinnett ahead of Sunday's series finale with the Rays.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Extends hitting streak

Gonzales went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored Saturday against Colorado.

Gonzales tallied Pittsburgh's first run of the game with a solo home run in the fourth inning, his fifth long ball of the season. That knock also extended his hitting streak to six games, and he's hitting .292 with nine RBI and five runs scored across 12 contests in June.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Grand slam in win

Toglia went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Pirates while also drawing a walk.

Toglia reached base in each of his first two at-bats, coming around to score Colorado's second run of the game on a Jake Cave double in the fourth. The 25-year-old would then add more insurance runs for the Rockies with a grand slam in the eighth as they ran away with the win at home. Toglia is now batting .300 in June with nine RBI and four runs scored and he's now hit safely in three straight games. Saturday also marked his second two-hit performance of the campaign.
