Charlie Strong was fired by Texas so the Longhorns could hire former Houston coach Tom Herman, but it doesn't appear as though Strong's unemployment will last long.

Strong was in Tampa, Florida, on Friday to interview for the open South Florida coaching job and is the front-runner for the post, according to 247 Sports. ESPN reports that the two sides have begun preliminary talks about the job, but according to 247 Sports, even if an offer is made Friday, Strong is expected to take a day or two to make a decision.

While Strong is the expected first choice of the Bulls, 247 Sports also reports that Strong is being pursued by USF's former coach Willie Taggart to be the new defensive coordinator at Oregon.

Strong went 16-21 at Texas in three seasons and was fired following a 5-7 campaign this season in Austin, but was 37-15 from 2010-2013 as the head man at Louisville.
