Figueroa was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Friday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
Figueroa was DFA'd on Friday, along with Cole Gillespie as the Marlins began making roster moves after their 7-person trade with the Padres. Throughout the 2016 season, Figueroa has bounced around quite a bit, playing for each of the Pirates, Dodgers and Marlins on their Triple-A affiliates. Even though he has never shown the ability to hit at the major league level, Figueroa could latch on with another organization looking for some infield depth.
