Figueroa signed with the Marlins on Saturday and was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

The 29-year-old's defensive versatility -- he can play shortstop, second base and third -- has earned him an opportunity in the Marlins' organization following his departure from Los Angeles, but he will remain in the minors for the time being. Figueroa has hit just .208/.250/.286 in parts of three major league seasons.
