Bruce took part in fielding drills at first base Sunday, The New York Daily News reports.

Neil Walker and T.J. Rivera also saw some work at first over the weekend, as Lucas Duda's continuing back issues put pressure on the organization to come up with contingency plans in case Duda isn't ready for Opening Day. Bruce played three games at first in 2014 for the Reds, so the position isn't completely unfamiliar to him, and with Michael Conforto off to a red-hot start at the plate this spring, finding room in the infield for Bruce could help the Mets clear up their outfield logjam.
