Hanson is only expected to stick with the Pirates while Starling Marte remains on paternity leave. "Unless something goes categorically sideways, it's three days," manager Clint Hurdle told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "It's in and out."

Hanson struck out in a pinch hitting role Monday. The Pirates have sought to increase the middle infielder's versatility, playing him in the outfield at Triple-A. Hurdle calls Hanson's efforts in left field "a work in progress" thus far.
