Pirates' Ryan Vogelsong: Leaves Monday's game after HBP to head

Vogelsong left Monday's game against the Rockies in the second inning after being hit in the head by a pitch, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Vogelsong laid on the ground for some time and ultimately had to be carted off the field following the hit by pitch. It's unclear exactly how severe the injury is, but it's a scary moment for the Pirates right-hander regardless. The 38-year-old's status should become clearer once he is able to be examined more thoroughly by a doctor. Wilfredo Boscan took over on the mound after Vogelsong's exit.
