McBroom was optioned to the Royals' alternate training site Saturday.
McBroom has appeared in five games to begin the season and went 1-for-6 with a run and five strikeouts during that time. He'll now head back to the team's alternate camp after left-hander Kris Bubic was recalled by the Royals in a corresponding move.
