While Auburn hopes to move to the SEC East sometime soon, one of its former running backs has beat it to the punch.

Stephen Davis Jr., the son of former Auburn running back Stephen Davis, is transferring to South Carolina, according to his father. Of course, this isn't a story that's as simple as Davis leaving one school for another.

When Davis announced his decision to transfer, Auburn blocked him from transferring to any school within the SEC. So how has Davis ended up at South Carolina?

Well, one of the benefits of being the son of somebody who spent 11 seasons playing in the NFL is that college is a bit more affordable for you, so Davis will actually be walking on at South Carolina rather than accepting a scholarship.

Davis will sit out the 2017 season and then have three years of eligibility remaining at the start of 2018.

Davis was a three-star running back in the 2016 recruiting class and had interest from South Carolina as well as other SEC schools like Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt before deciding to follow in his father's footsteps at Auburn.
