De Los Santos was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
The 23-year-old righty reliever has not yet pitched at Triple-A, so the Nationals will allow him to get some reps in there at the outset of the season before giving him a shot in the big league bullpen. His strikeout numbers in the minors are pretty impressive, but his command is still a bit of an issue.
