In a video on FoxSports.com, Ken Rosenthal talks about the most recent trade rumors.

  • The Phillies could trade Cliff Lee, but they are looking to go forward and not backward, reported Rosenthal. Trading Lee would give the team salary relief, but it wouldn’t necessarily make them better right now.
  • The Indians are focused more on going after pitching than hitting. Though they’ve been rumored to be in on nearly every impact hitter, the team is happy with Johnny Damon’s production since June.
  • The Pirates are looking at acquiring a hitter and a pitcher. Rosenthal thinks outfielder Shane Victorino is a good fit.
  • Team officials believe the Padres might be able to compete next season, so they may not deal Huston Street, Edinson Volquez or Carlos Quentin. Chase Headley, however, is still likely to be dealt.
  • Hanley Ramirez may also be dealt. Rosenthal names the Dodgers, A’s, Pirates, Mariners and Diamondbacks as teams that need a shortstop or third baseman.
