The Phillies have lost two in a row and are 5-5 in their last 10; it may be time to sell. If they're looking for a trading partner, they may have one in the Giants. Below you'll find the latest in rumors from around the NL.

  • The Giants are looking to add an outfielder, tweeted CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman. Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence are options.
  • Pence, earning $10.4 million this season, is arbitration-eligible in 2013, and that likely puts him out of the Giants' reach, but not the Dodgers', tweeted FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
  • There's no guarantee, of course, that the Phillies move Pence. If they do decide to sell between now and Tuesday's non-waiver trade deadline, Victorino, Juan Pierre, and Joe Blanton are the top candidates to be moved, tweeted Heyman. Pence remains a question mark.
  • In Queens, New York, the Mets may hold on to outfielder Scott Hairston, tweeted Rosenthal, especially if they bench Jason Bay. The Mets "see value" in finishing the season on a positive note, noted Rosenthal.
  • The Mets could have acquired Francisco Rodriguez, and paid what was left of his salary, two weeks ago for an "average minor leaguer," tweeted Heyman. It looks like the Mets made the right decision: Rodriguez has an ERA of 8.00 in his past 10 relief appearance. He's given up eight earned runs in nine innings over that span, and walked 10 batters.
  • Prized Mets prospect Zack Wheeler won't see big-league action until 2013, tweeted Heyman, and, in another tweet, Heyman shot down any notion of Jason Bay ending up in San Francisco.
  • The Padres have signed Carlos Quentin and Huston Street, and they may keep Chase Headley, tweeted ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, unless offers for the third baseman don't improve.
  • Finally, a minor roster move of note: the Nationals have released outfielder Xavier Nady.
