Ole Miss vs. Florida: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game

Game Recap

The Florida Gators had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 51-35 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels. That's another feather in the cap for the Gators, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

The game started off well for Florida, whose offense put up 28 first-half points. Ole Miss countered with 14 points. The offense for Florida continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 23 points to put the game away.

QB Kyle Trask went supernova for Florida as he passed for six TDs and 416 yards on 42 attempts. Trask's 71-yard touchdown toss to TE Kyle Pitts in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the day. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse LB Ventrell Miller, who racked up 13 tackles.

Special teams collected 15 points for Florida. K Evan McPherson delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

QB Matt Corral put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for three TDs and 395 yards on 31 attempts in addition to picking up 50 yards on the ground. Elijah Moore's longest reception was for 57 yards in the third quarter. This was the first matchup for both teams, starting off the Gators at 1-0 and the Rebels at a reverse 0-1.

Florida will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks at noon ET next Saturday at Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Unlike Florida, USC will be stumbling in off of a loss. As for Ole Miss, they will go up against the Kentucky Wildcats at 4 p.m. ET next Saturday at Kroger Field. Like Ole Miss, UK is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 29-13 to the Auburn Tigers.
