After a string of three wins, Oregon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Oregon State Beavers by a score of 41-38. If the result catches you off guard, it should: the Ducks were far and away the favorite.
RB Jermar Jefferson went supernova for Oregon State as he rushed for two TDs and 226 yards on 29 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the contest was Jefferson's 82-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter. The Beavers also relied on the talents of K Everett Hayes, whose two field goals, the longest a 48-yard boot in the second quarter, proved pivotal in the final score.
Oregon State's defense was a presence as well, as it collected two interceptions and two fumbles. The picks came courtesy of DB Jaydon Grant and DB Nahshon Wright.
No one had a standout game offensively for Oregon, but they got scores from a handful of players including TE Hunter Kampmoyer, RB Cyrus Habibi-Likio, and WR Jaylon Redd. Near the top of the highlight reel was Tyler Shough's 60-yard TD bomb to WR Devon Williams in the second quarter.
The Ducks' overall record fell to 3-1. The win got the Beavers back to even at 2-2.
Oregon is staying on the road next week to face off against the California Golden Bears at 3 p.m. ET Dec. 5 at California Memorial Stadium. California is coming in off of a close defeat (24-23 to the Stanford Cardinal). As for Oregon State, they will go up against the Utah Utes at 2 p.m. ET next week at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
