The 145th Open Championship will almost assuredly be won by one of the two men in the final pairing on Sunday.
Henrik Stenson (12 under) holds a one-shot lead on Phil Mickelson, who is five clear of Bill Haas in third place at 6 under. That's a significant gap and making up that many strokes would require either a record-setting day or a disastrous round from both of the leaders -- or both.
Due to that massive lead, there are only five golfers on the board currently with the rest lumped into the "Field" category.
Here are where the current odds stand, courtesy of the Westgate SuperBook, going into Sunday's final round.
The Favorites
Henrik Stenson (4-7): Stenson is one round away from breaking through for his first career major win. His ball striking this week has been insane, leading the field in greens in regulation, and the way he putt the ball on Saturday was incredible -- he needed only 24 putts in the third round. Mickelson showed some issues on Saturday, particularly getting off the tee, but Stenson continued his machine-like dominance of the course for his third straight round in the 60s, the only player that's done that.
Phil Mickelson (8-5): Mickelson shot a 70 on Saturday, and I'm not totally sure how. His short game saved him on numerous occasions, as it has so many times in his career. While you have to be a bit concerned about how he hit the ball off the tee, you also know he can grind out pars when others can't and he's putting tremendously. If you're wagering on either of the favorites, I'd think you have to take Mickelson from a value standpoint, but it'll be a wild ride for sure.
The Chasers
Bill Haas (30-1): Haas has been super steady so far with a 69-69-70 card through three rounds. The issue for me when looking at Haas is that I don't see him having a low number in him, which I think he'll need as I'd be shocked if both of the leaders come back to him more than a few shots. He has six shots to make up on Stenson and I don't think he has a 65 or 66 in him.
Andrew Johnston (80-1): This is the one that would be the most fun to wager on because Beef is the best. He's seven back of Stenson, but he has the most fun of anyone out there. At 80-1, maybe toss a few double cheeseburgers worth on Beef and see if you can't turn it into a fancy steak dinner.
J.B. Holmes (125-1): Holmes is eight back, but of the three guys chasing from the pack he's the one I feel has the best chance for a real low round. He also could shoot 78, but for value, this is the guy that could shoot 64 -- which still might not be enough.
Field (50-1): Do you think someone has a 62 in them? If yes, maybe this bet is for you. If not, don't bother.
