2020 NFL Mock Draft 4.0: Vikings trade away picks for Odell Beckham Jr. and Patrick Peterson

Monday's CBS Sports HQ mock draft was a wild one

Wild is certainly a word that could be used to describe CBS Sports HQ's Mock Draft 4.0. 

All told, eight receivers were taken during the first round, and there were several surprising trades, including the Bengals trading out of the No. 1 overall pick! There were also some shocking transactions, with Cam Newton signing with the Bengals after Cincinnati traded Andy Dalton to the Patriots for a third-round pick. Tua Tagovailoa suffered a steep fall before landing with the Raiders, who traded up to grab him at No. 8 overall. 

The Vikings -- with former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn serving as Minnesota's general manager -- made several eyebrow-raising trades. The Vikings acquired receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and cornerback Patrick Peterson after trading away the 22nd and 25th overall picks.

I would personally rather have Lynn Bowden Jr. or Devin Duvernay in Round 2 or 3 honestly. I'm not high on Jalen Reagor. I understand the pick though. They are filling that Randall Cobb role with a smaller, shifty wide receiver.

Green Bay should have been aggressive trying to move up for Justin Jefferson. They need to help Aaron Rodgers in his remaining years. There is not a wide receiver left that I would feel comfortable with in the first round.

The Titans take WR Justin Jefferson with the 29th overall pick. Packers have to be frustrated seeing two of the draft's best wideouts going back-to-back with them picking at No. 30.

I love the strategy to build the offensive line. It started a year ago with Jonah Williams and has continued with Cesar Ruiz, Jedrick Wills. Cincinnati has notoriously not invested in their offensive line. They have allowed Andrew Whitworth, Kevin Zeitler, Eric Steinbach and others leave in free agency over the years.

Bengals grab Cesar Ruiz with the No. 26 pick. Good value pick, and the Bengals have strengthened their line.

If you're not going to compete for three years, then there is no point keeping an expensive veteran. The Bengals did that with a handful of players (Andy Dalton, Tyler Eifert, Geno Atkins, Dre Kirkpatrick, A.J. Green, Cordy Glenn, etc...) last season. They should be cashing in on this draft but they are only pushing back their rebuild.

I really like what Ryan has been able to do as general manager of the Cardinals today. He replaced some aging assets for some promising, young talent. It is important for a young team to plan for the future.

I'll go back to the Browns' pick recently. Cleveland signed B.J. Goodson to compete with Mack Wilson and Sione Takitaki -- both of whom were drafted last year -- at the linebacker spot. I do think linebacker remains a need for them. In fact, I wrote about their perfect scenario today. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/...

Cleveland has been steadfast in their assertions that they will not be trading OBJ. They did interview CeeDee Lamb at the NFL combine but I would think this trade would be made earlier so they could add a Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs or Lamb. Instead, they are left with Jarvis Landry.
