Chiefs at Patriots final score: Kansas City clinches AFC West, ends New England's home winning streak

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New England Patriots, 23-16, and the win, coupled with the Raiders loss to Tennessee, has clinched the AFC West for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs (9-4), who ended the Patriots' 21-game home winning streak, were really able to take ahold of this game after the Patriots (10-3) went up 7-0 in the first. After that flea-flicker touchdown from Tom Brady to Julian Edelman, Patrick Mahomes and company were able to go on a 23-0 run that gave them enough cushion to walk away with the win. New England did make a game of it in the end as they did claw back to make it a one score game, but a Brady goal line pass to Edelman to try and knot up the score in the closing minutes of the contest fell incomplete.

Patrick Mahomes completed 26 of his 40 passes for 283 yards, a touchdown and a pick. Meanwhile, Brady completed 19 of his 36 throws for just 169 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

From here, the Patriots will head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals, while the Chiefs are going back to Kansas City and await the Denver Broncos, who are fresh off a Week 14 win over the Houston Texans.

In case you forgot: The last time the Patriots and Chiefs played one another, it went to overtime.

The clock is starting to become New England's enemy right now.

Tom Brady rushes for the first down and he's jacked up. He's basically a cheetah.

Brady's pass to Dorsett falls incomplete. Fans want DPI.

This feels like four down territory regardless.

When in doubt, Brady will always look to James White and Julian Edelman.

James White completes a pass to Meyers for 35 yards. They are pulling out all the tricks tonight.

Halfback pass alert!

The defense does its job and forces Kansas City to punt it away. Let's see what Tom Brady and company can come up with here.

Gillette Stadium crowd helps the Chiefs jump offsides. Now turns this into an even more difficult third down attempt for Kansas City.

This is an absolutely massive third down attempt for both sides.

Kansas City is starting off this drive at their own 18. Wonder what the plan will be for them. They could step on the gas and try to grab a quick score or try and bleed as much clock as possible. Ideal world they do both, but their play-calling here will be telling on how they view this game.

Brady was flushed out to his right and just threw it away. Patriots will punt it away and hope that their defense can come up big for them once again.

Kansas City just dropped the kitchen sink on Brady. Barely got the ball off. Now facing a third-and-12.

Lost in all of this is that Sony Michel does not have a second half carry. James White has taken over.
