The Panthers announced seven inactive players for Saturday’s preseason opener against the Houston Texans.
LB Jon Beason is recovering from a pulled hamstring in his left leg. It’s unrelated to the Achilles injury in the same leg that caused him to miss all of last season. Jason Phillips will start in his place.
LB Thomas Davis, recovering from knee surgery will sit because of a right calf strain.
CB Brandon Hogan is out with a knee injury, but CB Josh Thomas, who has been bothered by a hamstring injury, will play.
OG Andre Ramsey, signed on Friday when the team released OT Lee Ziemba, is inactive, as are WR Rico Wallace, WR David Gettis, and G Mike Pollak.
The team announced on Twitter that RB Jonathan Stewart signed a five-year contract extension.
