Real Madrid moved five points clear of Barcelona on Saturday atop La Liga with a well-deserved 2-1 win at Athletic Bilbao. It was a second-half goal by Casemiro that secured the result for Real, after Aritz Aduriz had drawn level for the hosts by canceling out Karim Benzemaâs first-half strike.
Here is Benzemaâs opener on 25 minutes.

Aduriz then finished off a header from Raul Garcia to make it 1-1 on 65 minutes.

But, Real was not done. Casemiro was in the right place at the right time to make it 2-1 just minutes after the hosts drew level.

And with that, three more points. Now you may be thinking, âit isnât fair to say they are five points clear since Barcelona plays Valencia on Sunday.â But it is fair. They have both played the same amount, and after 27 games, there is a five-point difference. Barca will play match No. 28 in the league on Sunday. Real Madrid still has a makeup game against Celta Vigo.
