USMNT vs. Canada score: Americans score fastest goal in team history to win Group B in Concacaf Gold Cup

The United States men's national team won Group B at the Concacaf Gold Cup on Sunday by edging Canada 1-0 on a record-breaking goal by defender Shaq Moore for the team's 11th straight win. The Tenerife man scored the fastest recorded goal in USMNT history, grabbing the winner just 20 seconds in. It started with a lovely ball from Kellyn Acosta, who got it out to the left to Sebastian Lletget, with the Los Angeles Galaxy defender needing just one touch to feed it across the face of the goal where Moore was waiting for the simple tap in.

Here is the moment:

And that was all the U.S. needed. It was a match where the team struggled to create in what was their toughest battle of the group stage, but you can't ignore the team being 3-0-0 entering the knockout stages.

While Canada will lament finishing second in the group, they had their chances to grab something from this one. A draw would have been enough to top the group, instead they finish second but still have realistic chances to make a deep run.

For the final half hour, Canada were the more threatening team and came close to equalizing in the second half. U.S. goalkeeper Matt Turner made a couple really good saves in the second half, including one from a tight angle inside the six, to record the clean sheet.

Canada finished with 14 total shots, while the U.S. had just six, but in the end the U.S. sweep their group and have serious momentum moving forward.

As things stand at the moment, the U.S. would face Jamaica in the quarterfinals.

15 minutes to go, and Canada have gained control in terms of the chances and possession. The U.S. is looking to hold on and seem content with defending to see out these last 13 minutes.

Two big saves from Turner to keep it 1-0! Looking so sharp early, but so are Canada as they are going forward with numbers and causing trouble.

10 minutes to go in the opening half, and no shots on goal since that opener from Shaq Moore. Very poor overall for Canada while Sands continues to look super strong for the U.S.

Another decent look there for the U.S. Dike with a tricky touch on a ball from Shaq Moore, but he is off balance, and the ball goes wide. Decent look.

The opening goal

A flying start! Lletget with a great ball across the face of goal, and Shaq Moore puts it away with ease!
