SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Harald Frey had 22 points and made 5 of 7 from 3-point range to help Montana State beat Sacramento State 74-65 on Thursday night.

Tyler Hall made 2 of 4 from long distance and added 17 points for the Bobcats (8-12, 3-4 Big Sky Conference).

Montana State had a 9-1 run to lead 68-55 on Benson Osayande's pair of free throws with 3:22 left. From there, the Hornets (5-12, 2-4) got no closer than 70-62 on Jiday Ugbaja's layup with 1:28 to go.

Montana State had its first double-digit lead near the midpoint if the first half at 21-10 and extended to its largest lead of 15 early in the second. But Sacramento State pulled within 59-54 after an 11-3 run capped by Justin Strings' 3-pointer with 6:12 to go.

Strings and Marcus Graves had 19 points each to lead the Hornets.
