Ness was assigned to AHL Hershey on Sunday, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.
Ness' reassignment to the minors perhaps suggests the Capitals are comfortable with the progress Matt Niskanen (upper body) has shown and could even get him back for Sunday's game against the Canucks. The 26-year-old Ness didn't make any appearances for the Capitals during his latest stint with the big club.
