American snowboarder Jamie Anderson already secured herself a gold medal earlier this Olympics, but she was hoping to double down on Thursday in South Korea with a big win in women's big air. Unfortunately, Anderson had to settle for silver.

Austria's Anna Gasser stomped out a huge double double 1080 on the final run of the event to score a 96, which, combined with her previous best score of 89, was enough to take home the gold. Riders took three runs in the final, with their best two counting. Gasser becomes the first Austrian to win a freestyle snowboarding medal at the Olympics.

It was a disappointing finish for the 27-year-old Anderson, who held the first-place position until Gasser's final run. She was hoping the big frontside 1080 she landed in her first run, then a follow-up 900, would be enough to secure her second gold in South Korea.

However, Gasser went aggressive on her final run and nailed it. She managed to overtake Anderson, but the silver medal is certainly nothing to scoff at.

It's Anderson's third Olympic medal in total. She previously won gold in back-to-back slopestyle events in both 2014 and 2018.
