It's a winner!
Joel Matip drives a Pedro Porro cross into his own goal to seal the victory for Spurs. Liverpool did everything that they could to stave off the Pressure from Spurs in the second half but it wasn't enough.
For the first time in the history of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs have toppled Liverpool at home by a score of 2-1. In a match full of twists and turns and two red cards for Liverpool, it took until deep into stoppage time for Liverpool defender Joel Matip to score the eventual winner for Spurs with a crushing own goal as Ange Postecoglou's perfect start in charge of the London club continues. Liverpool went down to 10 men in the first half following a questionable sending off for Curtis Jones before the half-hour mark. Spurs followed up with an opener from Son Heung-Min in the 36th minute, but Liverpool were able to answer back to Spurs' opening goal through Cody Gakpo just before the half, while also having a Luis Diaz goal called back for offside.
An injury to Cody Gakpo and bacl-to-back yellow cards to his replacement Diogo Jota in the 68th and 69th minute left Liverpool with nine men and a seemingly hopeless task. Liverpool fought as hard as they could with nine and looked like they were about to escape with a point, but eventually Spurs were able to push hard enough to get a winner and remain in the top four before facing Luton Town next week.

Just minutes remain as Alejo Veliz is on for his Tottenham debut and Postecoglou has emptied his bench. Spurs have a chance to defeat Liverpool for the first time at their new home ground but it's now or never.
This time it's Diogo Jota who is sent off, he just came on at halftime and now is dismissed only 15 mintues later. Liverpool have now picked up four red cards this season and will now be missing quite a few players in their next league match versus Brighton.
Liverpool have been able to hold their resolve in the match but they're beginning to give Tottenham more chances from dead ball situations which is quite dangerous with how James Maddison can deliver chances into the box.
Tottenham have the ball in the back of the net as Richarlison assisted Son again but it won't count as the Brazillian went just a shade too early. So far quite a promising performance on the wing from Richarlison though.
By just his fingertips he has now stopped Son and Maddsion from scoring as Spurs are really turning up the pressure to start the second half. Liverpool are barely able to get out of their own half at the moment.
Gakpo has been withdrawn but it's Diogo Jota who has entered to give Liverpool an attacking threat on the counter.
For Spurs, something needs to be done to actually make their man advantage count. Liverpool created too much danger as Spurs just weren't able to keep possession in dangerous areas. While they're a team that plays with plenty of space in matches, Spurs will need to tighten things up in order to adjust to Liverpool's counter.
For the Reds, bringing Darwin Nunez in to add more chaos to the game makes a lot of sense. There's no reason to risk Cody Gakpo here with plenty of more games to play and Nunez's pace could really break this game open as the Reds try to go top of the Premier League.
It's hard to tell if the Reds are just keeping him out there to make it until halftime but he's not moving well after coming back on the pitch.
Yet again, they show that the attack must be respected even when down a man as Cody Gakpo scores the equalizer. It's a goal that could prove to be costly as the Liverpool forward seems to have picked up a knee injury during the shooting process. The training staff is now examining Gakpo.
All things considered, Liverpool have done well despite Tottenham's man advantage but all of that could change in the blink of an eye with how Maddsion and Kulusevski have orchestrated Spurs' attack. Another goal in the first half could wrap this one up early for the home side.
While it's certainly easier to counter with 11 men compared to 10, Richarlison laid a perfect pass off to Son and Spurs are now ahead 1-0 with plenty of time remaining in the half to aim for a second goal. Can't ask for a better start than that.
Luis Diaz has found the back of the net for Liverpool but the flag was raised to overturn it. After a review, the offside decision was confirmed but it's a heart in mouth moment for Spurs as Liverpool are still quite dangerous on the counter.
Curtis Jones is sent off for a challenge on Bissouma after a VAR review. It's quite a tough yellow to hand out via a review but now Liverpool will need to cope with 10 men for the second time this season. They were able to pull off all three points last time around, can they do the same away to Tottenham?
Curtis Jones was in a great position to score but Pape Sarr was right there step for step to block the Liverpool midfielder's shot. It's a game that feels closer to the fist goal coming in the clash.
There goes Liverpool testing Spurs as Gakpo puts a shot on target and then Robertson's follow up also finds the Tottenham keeper. After a slow start to the match things are beginning to heat up as it gets closer to the 15 minute mark.
They're asking the questions in attack early but have yet to test Vicario in net. If Spurs can't turnover possession in midfield, that could change quickly though.
The teams are coming out and there is plenty on the line in this clash.
While Liverpool's game is based on their front three, the midfield will be in for a tough job stopping Tottenham's press during the match.
Starters: Alisson, Gomez, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones, DIaz, Gakpo, Salah
With Brennan Johnson's injury, Richarlison comes back into the side with a chance to rebound following his tough start to the season as he leads the line.
Starters: Vicario, Udogie, van de Ven, Romero, Porro, Sarr, Bissouma, Son, Maddison, Kulusevski, Richarlison
It's quite a match going as two unbeaten teams will meet in Premier League play. Liverpool can go top of the league with a victory but to do so, they'll need to stop one of the hottest teams in the league in Tottenham. Powered by James Maddison in midfield, Spurs have had an excellent start to the season and will want to build on it by taking advantage of Liverpool's defense.
