The Marlins aren’t done yet, but the Tigers are set.
- The Marlins are more open than ever to trading third baseman Hanley Ramirez, according to CBSSports.com’s Scott Miller. Ramirez has hit just .246/.322/.430 this season. He’s faced some criticism for being unprofessional, and the team is tired of his actions. Miller also notes that the Marlins may hold pitcher Josh Johnson. Johnson is under contract for another season, and has a sketchy injury history. Exiting Monday’s game with a finger injury makes things slightly more complicated.
- After dealing for Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante, the Tigers are not likely to make any more moves at the deadline, according to mlive.com’s James Schmehl. On a teleconference call, Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said the team was “set” in the rotation, and that they now have “five established major-league starters.”
- The Orioles are after a corner-infield bat that can get on base, according to The Baltimore Sun’s Dan Connolly. The team has been in contact for Chase Headley, Placido Polanco and Bryan LaHair in recent weeks. The team will not trade top prospects Dylan Bundy or Manny Machado.
- Hunter Pence might be on his way out of Philadelphia, according to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. The Phillies are signaling to teams that Pence is going to be available. He could draw significant interest now that Carlos Quentin and Edwin Encarnacion are off the market.
- Rosenthal also mentioned that the Nationals are interested in Zack Greinke, but they may not have the prospects after trading for Gio Gonzalez last winter.
- CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler gave an update on Greinke on Monday. Knobler said the White Sox, Braves and Rangers have scouts at the week’s Brewers series.
