Alonzo Gee, last season's Luke Ridnour, will join the New Orleans Pelicans on a two-year, $2.75 million deal with a player option on the second season, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Gee was actually traded to the Pelicans from the Cleveland Cavaliers last July, then traded to the Houston Rockets, then traded to the Sacramento Kings, then waived and signed by the Denver Nuggets, then traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. It was a crazy season.

New Orleans would be wise to actually keep Gee this time and make him a part of its wing rotation, which currently consists of Tyreke Evans, Eric Gordon and Luke Babbitt. Gee immediately becomes the Pelicans' best wing defender, and they really could have used him last year after letting Al-Farouq Aminu walk.

With Alvin Gentry coaching the team, New Orleans is expected to play at a much faster pace. The style should suit Gee, though you have to wonder about his 3-point shooting. He's a 33 percent shooter from long range in his career, but has only averaged 1.5 3-pointers per game. If the Pelicans are going to imitate last year's Golden State Warriors or Steve Nash's Phoenix Suns teams, he needs to get comfortable firing away.
