Fans dare college football to give us the unpredictable. A week of chatter regarding the quality of Week 2's schedule set in motion some of the wildest finishes we might see this season, none more confusing and electrifying than Central Michigan's Hail Mary lateral touchdown on an untimed down that should not have even taken place.

There were not any games between teams ranked in the top 25 polls, sure, but a team's strength is not ultimately determined by the tiny number next to its name on the television. Arkansas proved that Saturday, going into Fort Worth, Texas, and bringing the fight to TCU in an overtime win. The Razorbacks' impressive nonconference victory boosted their stock in the eyes of CBS Sports 128 voters in what was a bounce-back week for the Southeastern Conference.

College football experts from CBS Sports -- and for the first time this year, partner 247Sports -- contribute ballots each week, which are averaged together for our rankings. You can see the top-25 below, and 26-128 on our rankings page.

Tennessee took the checkered flag at Bristol, LSU found a new quarterback and Florida's offense lit up the scoreboard while teams like Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M took care of business. Georgia played Nicholls a little close, but the weekend's result has eight SEC teams in the top 25 of the CBS Sports 128. There was also some conference shifting up top after Clemson's second-straight week of sliding in the rankings. Now the Big Ten now holds spots No. 2 (Ohio State) and No. 3 (Michigan) behind the Tide while the Tigers are at No. 5, one spot below ACC Atlantic rival Florida State.

Biggest movers

  • Arkansas (+31): The Razorbacks fell all the way below Arkansas State to No. 56 in the rankings after squeaking out a one-point win against Louisiana Tech before this impressive 30-spot leap up into the top-25 of the CBS Sports 128. Taking TCU to overtime would have improved Arkansas' ranking even in a loss, but holding off TCU's late charge and holding on for the win cemented the Hogs' status as the No. 1 team you want on your side in a bar fight.
  • Florida (+15): Luke Del Rio is out here putting up passing numbers that haven't been recorded since Chris Leak was pitching the rock around Gainesville and we're not supposed to be impressed? Florida has a long way to go before SEC title contention but the way things clicked against Kentucky suggests division title contention is closer than we thought after the opener.
  • Oklahoma State (-15): The Cowboys don't get any participation trophies from the CBS Sports 128 electorate for the controversial finish against Central Michigan. Even if the untimed down is stopped by the Big 12 replay officials before Cooper Rush tosses the ball in the air (something the league said it could have done) and Oklahoma State won there would still be some kind of slide in our rankings.
