PHILADELPHIA (AP) Tyler Cavanaugh's game-winning 3 with eight seconds left capped a 20-point night for him as George Washington thwarted Temple's comeback attempt with a 66-63 win on Wednesday night.

Daniel Dingle's 3 attempt for Temple was no good as time expired. Down 61-52 with 2:45 to go, Josh Brown and Dingle made three-straight 3-pointers to tie the game at 61 with 1:31 to play.

Cavanaugh made a pair of free throws for George Washington (5-4) for a 63-61 lead before Shizz Alston Jr.'s jumper with 38 seconds tied it. Earlier, Matt Hart hit a 3 with 10:47 to play that put the Colonials on top 52-37. George Washington led 31-25 at halftime.

Jordan Roland had 14 points, Arnaldo Toro had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Collin Smith had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Colonials.

Dingle led Temple (6-3) with 14 points and seven assists, and Obi Enechionyia had 12 points and seven boards.
