  • Devils' Brian Strait: Designated for waivers
    By RotoWire Staff

Strait landed on the waiver wire Monday, Rick Ralph of TSN 1290 Winnipeg reports. Strait managed to crack the Jets' game-day lineup just five times last season -- instead spending much of the year with AHL Manitoba where he logged 58 games and tallied 14 points. The Boston University product will join AHL Binghamton if he clears waivers and will probably remain in the minors for much of the 2017-18 campaign.

  • Devils' Brian Strait: Signs with New Jersey
    By RotoWire Staff

Strait's one-year, two-way contract with the Devils is worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $200,00 in the minors, per CapFriendly. The Boston University product spent the bulk of the 2016-17 season with AHL Manitoba, a minor-league affiliate of the Jets, producing 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 36 PIM over 58 games. He was up in the NHL for five contests, tacking on five assists over that span. New Jersey is the fourth NHL team to have acquired Strait over the course of his career; the Massachusetts native was picked by the Penguins in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, but he logged just 12 NHL games over two seasons in the Burgh before the Islanders took him in for 170 matches between 2012-16. We'd love to give Strait the benefit of the doubt now that he has a clean slate with a new franchise, but he'll be hard-pressed to earn enough playing time to lift brows in the fantasy realm.

  • Jets' Brian Strait: Will be closer to home
    By RotoWire Staff

Strait signed a one-year, two-way contract with New Jersey on Saturday. Strait only played five NHL games last season, but he does have considerable experience -- playing over 45 big-league games in a season on three separate campaigns. Although he's never eclipsed the 10-point mark, Strait still stands a chance to possibly snag at least the seventh-man role in a young, New Jersey defensive core.

  • Jets' Brian Strait: Sent down to minors
    By RotoWire Staff

Strait was reassigned to AHL Manitoba on Thursday. Strait heads back to the minors now that the Jets are starting to get healthy on the blue line. In addition to having guys back, the 29-year-old appears to have been beaten out for a spot in the lineup by youngsters Julian Melchiori and Nelson Nogier as Winnipeg starts thinking about the 2017-18 campaign and evaluating the talent within the organization.

  • Jets' Brian Strait: Brought up to NHL
    By RotoWire Staff

Strait was recalled from AHL Manitoba on Saturday. Jacob Trouba is dealing with an upper-body injury, so the Jets brought up Strait as insurance ahead of Sunday's home game against the Wild. We view the American defenseman as a stay-at-home type and not someone who will light it up to the benefit of your fantasy team.
