The Ducks have traded Friberg to the Canadiens in exchange for goalie Dustin Tokarski. Friberg was selected by Ducks in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He only ended up appearing in six games with the Ducks and hasn't played at hockey's highest level of competition since Nov. 13. Still, he's known as a fast and gritty winger with a strong work ethic. Friberg had a chance to showcase his offensive talent with AHL San Diego, notching five goals and 12 assists in 25 games this season.
Friberg was reassigned to AHL San Diego on Tuesday. With Nate Thompson returning from suspension Tuesday, the Ducks are no longer in need of Friberg's services as a depth forward. The 23-year-old winger has drawn into the Ducks' lineup on five occasions this season, registering a single shot on goal and two PIM in those contests.
Friberg was recalled from AHL San Diego on Sunday. Friberg has appeared sparingly in five games for the Ducks this season, and he's been held scoreless while recording two penalty minutes. In 20 games for San Diego, Friberg has amassed 15 points and two penalty minutes.
Friberg was reassigned to Anaheim's AHL affiliate in San Diego on Saturday. The move was a long time coming for the 22-year-old, as he had only dressed for five of Anaheim's 17 games so far, failing to register a point in any of those games. The youngster still has a lot of room to improve and is likely to earn another call up to the majors sometime this season.
Friberg was recalled from AHL San Diego on Tuesday. Friberg made his NHL debut with the Ducks last season, playing in a single game on Dec. 28, 2014. He played the rest of the season with AHL Norfolk, totaling 40 points in 58 games played. The 22-year-old Swede is likely getting called up in response to the injuries to wing players Jiri Sekac and Kenton Helgesen. Friberg should have a nice opportunity to earn some time on the bottom lines for the Ducks as a result.
