  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Activated, sent down

Pekar (undisclosed) was activated from injured reserve and assigned to AHL Rochester on Saturday, per CapFriendly. Pekar began the year on injured reserve, but he's now ready to join the minor-league club. The 22-year-old probably won't see much time with the big club this year unless his scoring rate rises significantly over the 12 points in 72 games he's posted with Rochester so far.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Starting year on IR

Pekar (undisclosed) was placed on non-roster injured reserve Monday, CapFriendly reports. It's unclear why Pekar is on injured reserve, but he'll head to AHL Rochester once he's healthy. The 22-year-old hasn't seen his success in juniors translate to the AHL level yet, as he's scored just 12 points in 72 career appearances with Rochester.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Improved play in OHL

Pekar tallied a goal and an assist in OHL Barrie's 5-4 loss to Hamilton on Wednesday. Pekar added a game-high eight shots on goal for good measure. He has been a pleasant surprise this season. After barely averaging a point per game (36 points in 33 games) in his first OHL campaign, Buffalo's 2018 fourth-rounder (94th overall) has racked up 13 goals and 22 points in just 14 games to begin his 2019-20 campaign. Pekar should be a lock for the Czech World Junior team this coming holiday season.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Sent back to juniors

Pekar was assigned to his junior club OHL Barrie on Wednesday. Pekar logged 13:42 of ice time in Monday's preseason matchup with Columbus, in which he registered three shots and a minus-1 rating. The 19-year-old center notched 14 goals and 22 assists with the Colts last season and should be able to increase those numbers heading into the 2019-20 campaign. If he can continue to progress in his development, the Czech could be in the mix for a spot on the 23-man roster next season.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Ready to rock

Pekar (shoulder) will be in the lineup for Monday's exhibition match against Pittsburgh, Joe Yerdon of The Athletic Buffalo reports. A minor shoulder injury prevented Pekar from participating in Buffalo's development camp in June, but the 19-year-old pivot has had plenty of time to recover since then. The 2018 fourth-round pick will is expected to begin the 2019-20 campaign with the Barrie Colts of the OHL.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Sits out development camp

Pekar has been nursing a minor shoulder injury and was unable to participate in this week's development camp, Jason Wolf of The Buffalo News reports. The fourth-rounder from 2018 has made some good progress, but injuries have slowed him down, as a broken collarbone ended his OHL season in January. Now recovered from that, the shoulder injury has come into play, though Pekar says it's nothing serious. While the center is still a couple seasons away from the Sabres, he's supposed to get his first taste of professional action this season with Rochester of the AHL. Pekar posted 14 goals and 22 helpers in 33 outings with OHL Barrie last season.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Joining AHL Rochester

Pekar was reassigned to AHL Rochester following the end of his junior campaign with OHL Barrie. Pekar still has a year of junior eligibility left and will likely head back to the Colts for the 2019-20 campaign. In his first OHL season, the 19-year-old tallied 14 goals and 22 helpers in 33 outings. Selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Draft, the Czech is likely still a few years away from breaking into the Sabres' roster.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Producing for OHL Barrie

Pekar potted a pair of goals and added an assist in OHL Barrie's 3-2 win over Kingston on Sunday. Pekar recently returned from the World Junior Championship, where he failed to record a point in five games for his native Czech Republic. Despite his poor performance on the international stage, Pekar (14 goals, 36 points in 32 games) has had a strong first OHL season for the Colts. The 2017-18 USHL Rookie of the Year, Pekar signed his entry-level deal with Buffalo in October.

  • Sabres' Matej Pekar: Inks entry-level deal

Pekar signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Sabres on Wednesday. Pekar has impressed early on in the OHL this season, racking up six goals and 11 points in 10 appearances. The 2018 fourth-round pick is likely still a year or two away from making his NHL debut, but he'll definitely be worth a look in dynasty formats if he continues to tear it up in major junior.
