In a move to make room for newly signed first baseman Jose Abreu, the White Sox sent pitcher David Purcey outright to Triple-A Charlotte Friday. Purcey had his season cut short because of a strained ulnar collateral ligament. He owned a 2.13 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP over 25 1/3 innings pitched this season.
