Mashinter was reassigned to the AHL's San Jose Barracuda on Wednesday, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic Bay Area reports.
The longtime journeyman was just recalled Tuesday, though he didn't feature in the Sharks' loss to Arizona. Mashinter has a chance to be recalled again ahead of Thursday's matchup with Vancouver, though even if he gets the call, he shouldn't be given any lineup consideration. In 64 career NHL games, Mashinter has just five points to go along with a minus-12 rating.
The Sharks recalled Mashinter from AHL San Jose on Tuesday.
Mashinter hasn't drawn into an NHL contest since the 2015-16 campaign, so he likely won't be with the Sharks for long. The 29-year-old winger has totaled seven goals and 18 points in 41 games with AHL San Jose this season.
Mashinter was waived by the Sharks on Monday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Mashinter hasn't seen NHL action in a while, last suiting up for the Blackhawks back in 2015-16. The 29-year-old winger put up 30 points and 70 PIM in 61 games with AHL Rockford last year (though it's important to note he also skated to a minus-20), so it's conceivable that he'll get a shot with a big club this season given his moderate offensive output in the minors.
Mashinter signed a one-year deal with San Jose on Monday, returning to the organization he was part of from 2009-13.
The 6-foot-4, 212-pounder has suited up for 64 NHL games in his career, picking up four goals and five points along the way. The team did not specify whether the contract is a one- or two-way deal, though it's more likely a team-friendly, two-way deal. If this is indeed the case, expect Mashinter to spend a lion's share of the season at the AHL level -- where's he's produced a respectable 232 points in 471 games -- to provide leadership for the younger players, and only be called to the NHL in the event that the Sharks' forward group is hit with injuries.
Mashinter was placed on waivers Monday by the Blackhawks, Bob McKenzie of TS reports.
Mashinter split time between the majors and minors last season, as he saw action in 41 NHL contests. In those outings, the winger recorded four goals along with one assist and 23 PIM. Undrafted coming out of the OHL, the 28-year-old has yet to secure regular minutes and will likely spend the majority of the 2016-17 campaign in the AHL.
Mashinter signed a one-year contract with Chicago on Thursday.
Mashinter recorded a paltry five points on the year, despite suiting up in 41 NHL games. Despite his limited production, the Hawks seem to believe he was worth extending a new one-year deal, although fantasy owners will want to consider dropping him from their rosters, if they even had him in the first place.
Mashinter (illness) will return to action Wednesday against the Blues, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Fantasy owners don't need to concern themselves with Mashinter's availability, as the big-bodied winger has only tallied four points (three goals, one assist) in 33 games this season. He'll slot back into the lineup as a bottom-six forward Wednesday against St. Louis.
Mashinter (illness) will not dress for Sunday's game against the Red Wings, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
The winger skipped out on practice Saturday because of the illness, and it appears a night's rest didn't do enough for him. Richard Panik should draw into the lineup in his place, but even when Mashinter is healthy, his role as a bottom-six forward averaging less than 10 minutes of ice time per game doesn't really make him much of a fantasy prospect. The illness shouldn't hold him out long, so it wouldn't be surprising if the 27-year-old rejoins the lineup for the team's next game Wednesday against the Blues.
Mashinter didn't practice Saturday due to an illness, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Mashinter's absence at practice Saturday leaves his status for Sunday's matchup with the Red Wings in doubt. Expect an update on the big-bodied winger's status ahead of puck drop Sunday evening.
Mashinter was recalled by the Blackhawks on Monday.
Mashinter's last NHL action came with the Rangers in 2013-14 when he went without a point in six games. He's collected seven points through the first 12 games for AHL Rockford so far this season, and it has earned him a promotion to the NHL squad. The 27-year-old winger has appeared in 23 total NHL games over the course of his career, but has yet to notch a point. He could make his season debut with the Blackhawks as soon as Thursday against the Devils.
