Lightning's Andreas Borgman: Signs with defending champs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning on Friday.

Borgman last played in the NHL during the 2017-18 season, suiting up in 48 games with the Maple Leafs and posting 11 points. The 25-year-old blueliner played exclusively in the AHL over the last two seasons, and he's logged three games with Assat Pori of the Swedish League this season. Borgman likely will continue to play overseas until NHL training camp begins.

Blues' Andreas Borgman: Flipped via trade
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman was acquired by St. Louis from Toronto on Thursday in a swap for Jordan Schmaltz.

Borgman couldn't break out of the minors last season, instead spending the year with AHL Toronto, where he notched four goals and 13 helpers in 45 appearances. The blueliner will be hard pressed to earn a spot on the 23-man roster with his new club and figures to log another season in the AHL.

Maple Leafs' Andreas Borgman: Inks one-year, two-way extension
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman signed a one-year, two-way contract extension valued at $700,000 with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

Borgman, a heavy-hitting rearguard, remains a work in progress defensively, though he put up three goals and eight assists over 48 games with the Leafs as a rookie in 2017-18 to tease some offensive potential. With any luck to the Buds, this contract will provide the confidence booster that he needs to fully ascend from the AHL ranks and make an impact with the parent club in 2019-20, but he'll more than likely be an organizational tweener.

Maple Leafs' Andreas Borgman: Demoted Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman was reassigned to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL on Monday.

With veteran defender Roman Polak returning to the lineup Monday after battling an infection, the team deemed Borgman surplus to requirements. A 22-year-old rookie, Borgman has skated in 48 games this season, logging three goals and 11 points, as well as posting a plus-4 rating. For the time being, Borgman will likely remain in the minors to gain additional experience, but could get a callup if the Leafs run into injury problems.

Maple Leafs' Andreas Borgman: Spectator for Saturday's home clash
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman will watch Saturday's game against the Canucks from the press box, Kristen Shilton of TSN.ca reports.

Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock noted that Borgman has "done nothing wrong," and the team simply wanted to unleash 2015 second-round pick Travis Dermott for his NHL debut. Borgman, another rookie, has compiled two goals and seven helpers through 40 games with 13:43 of average ice time. Indeed, that's steady production for a first-year player learning a tough position.

Maple Leafs' Andreas Borgman: Scores first goal in 19 games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman delivered a goal in a 3-1 loss to the Red Wings on Friday.

The 22-year-old defenseman brushed twine less than two minutes into the game, but the Maple Leafs didn't muster up any scoring afterwards. Likewise, it was Borgman's only shot of the contest. Borgman is having a decent rookie season, but this was his first goal since Nov. 4. He has three goals and eight points with a plus-1 rating in 32 games.

Maple Leafs' Andreas Borgman: Collects an assist
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman gathered an assist in a 2-1 loss to the Canucks on Saturday.

It was his second assist in his last five games, giving him two goals and five assists on the season. The Swedish Hockey League's reigning Rookie of the Year has proven to be a full-time defenseman with double-digit ice time in the NHL. While his offense may not be there every night (15 points in 45 games in the SHL), his consistent opportunities may be worth a speculative add in daily leagues if he can continue collecting points.

Maple Leafs' Andreas Borgman: First two-point game in NHL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 6-4 loss to St. Louis.

Quietly, Borgman is on a 30-plus point pace -- that's pretty good for a first-year NHL defender who is better known for hitting than scoring. He has some offensive chops -- he provided a sweet 10 points in 14 playoff games last year in Sweden. Borgman may provide you with a depth option in deep leagues if he can continue to put up points.

Maple Leafs' Andreas Borgman: Debuts with assist
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Borgman made his NHL debut Wednesday and picked up an assist in 16:34.

Borgman impressed coach Mike Babcock in camp and continued that in his debut against the Jets. He finished plus-2 skating with Connor Carrick.
