Lionel Messi won't take part in the Copa del Rey semifinals against Valencia on Wednesday as he will undergo a procedure to deal with his kidney issue.
Barcelona announced on Monday that he would undergo several tests on Monday and Tuesday for the kidney stone problems he experienced in December, saying he will return to the first team on Wednesday.

It is expected that Messi will return to action this weekend against Celta Vigo. It's not as if the club is desperate to have Messi on the field Wednesday. Barcelona holds an insurmountable 7-0 advantage from the first leg heading into the final leg against Valencia. Barring the greatest comeback in the history of the sport, Barcelona should advance to the final on May 21.
