On Thursday, MLB unveiled its line of spring fashions -- i.e., the new uniforms -- that teams will wear in Cactus League and Grapefruit League play during spring training. Headlining the changes are the new hat designs that many teams will be featuring:

As well, the jerseys have undergone some changes. Here's this from the MLB press release:

The jerseys are a part of Majestic’s new Flex Base uniform system, a design developed through insights from Major League players, innovative fabric technologies and extensive wear testing over the last two years. The new Flex Base uniforms feature a new, lighter weight twill technology and mesh panels on the sides of the jerseys which reduce the overall weight of jerseys by 10-20% and enhance freedom of movement.

As you'll also soon see, the hats have on the sides a "highway road sign" patch with the state initials "AZ" or "FL" depending on where they play their exhibition slate. A nice touch, it says here.

Now, let's have a look at what this scribe has deemed to be the ten best new spring training looks for 2016. Then we'll get around to rolling out the also-rans. First, though, the winners ...

1. Kansas City Royals

It's all about the crown above the KC logo on the hat. It would look great even if they weren't the reigning champs.

2. Chicago White Sox

Ah, a welcome return of the Sox's "batter up" logo.

3. Milwaukee Brewers

Anything with the ball-in-glove hat logo, which never should have gone away, gets hosannas from me.

4. Toronto Blue Jays

Love the navy hat with the maple leaf.

5. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers make the cut solely because of the new road hat. Nice look. Classic font that evokes the classic "Dodgers" script on the jersey.

6. Texas Rangers

Repping the state in which they play and for which they're named -- approved.

7. Cincinnati Reds

Mr. Redlegs is quietly yet manifestly superior to Mr. Met.

8. Tampa Bay Rays

Sure, why not. It's the little sunburst thing plucked from the standard logo.

9. Atlanta Braves

The font on the hat reminds one of Ricks Mahler and Camp, and that is a small, good thing.

10. Detroit Tigers

I like traffic-cone orange, and I do so sans regrets or apologies.

On these matters, EOB has spoken. Finally, here's an action-news look at all 30 spring training hats ...

And all 30 spring training jerseys ...

Now go forth and purchase durable sports goods.
