Houston and new coach Tom Herman announced Tuesday that former Utah quarterback Adam Schulz has transferred into the Cougars program.

A former walk-on, Schulz rose up the Utes' depth chart until starting three games late in the 2013 season following an injury to starter Travis Wilson. But Wilson's return and the arrival of transfer Kendal Thompson limited Schulz to just one appearance and two attempts in 2014.

He leaves Utah with 1,091 passing yards and six touchdowns in eight appearances. Schulz has one season of eligibility remaining and is expected to be able to play immediately. To earn the starter's job, he will presumably have to beat out incumbent starter Greg Ward Jr.

Also transferring to Houston is former Oregon receiver Chance Allen, who in two seasons with the Ducks caught five passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

The Cougars lost signal caller John O'Korn to transfer this offseason (possibly to Texas, according to Jameis Winston), though his final destination has not been officially announced.
